AP/OD National Parent & Caregiver Co-Creation Advisory Group 2023 Accomplishments
As we approach the end of 2023, it's time to reflect on the incredible journey we've undertaken with the creation of the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors (AP/OD) National Parent & Caregiver Co-Creation Advisory Group. We had the opportunity to collaborate with parents/caregivers from California, New Mexico, and Massachusetts who have all participated in local AP/OD programs. This year has been a testament to the power of collaboration, shared experiences, and the collective wisdom of parents and caregivers who are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of families across the nation.
Empowering Families Through Curriculum Updates
One of our primary focuses this year has been the enhancement of the AP/OD curriculum. With the invaluable expertise and lived experiences of our members, the Advisory Group provided feedback and insight on ten new Prenatal to 3 resources that will serve as supplemental material for each of the curriculum sessions. This will ensure that the curriculum remains a dynamic, accessible, and relevant resource, providing the tools necessary for families to thrive.
Connecting and Inspiring Through Social Media Campaigns & Webinars
Our dedicated group has delved into the world of social media, exploring innovative ways to share stories and create a sense of community through our Family Stories Month in November; and disseminate information through the mental health campaign in May, which included a successful webinar on parent/caregiver self-care attended by almost 200 participants.
In the spirit of the group’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive support for families, they have also created a parent/webinar series, Descubriendo en Familia: Discovering as a Family, that will launch in 2024. This exciting initiative aims to delve into critical topics that resonate with the diverse needs of parents and caregivers. The series will cover essential subjects such as financial literacy, mental health, nutrition, and family goal setting. Through engaging and informative webinars, we aspire to equip parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the various aspects of family life successfully.
